Genesis 1:12 — The Earth Brought Forth
Scripture: Genesis 1:12 “The earth brought forth vegetation, plants yielding seed according to their kind, and trees bearing fruit with seed in them, according to their kind; and God saw that it was good.” The Rhythm God speaks in Genesis 1:11. The earth responds in Genesis 1:12. This is the rhythm of creation again. God commands, and creation obeys. The earth brings forth vegetation, plants yielding seed, and fruit trees bearing fruit with seed in them. The earth does not act on its own authority. It brings forth because God has spoken. Life rises from the ground in response to the Creator’s word. The phrase “according to their kind” appears again. God gives living things identity and order. Each plant, tree, and seed bears within the boundaries God has set. Creation is fruitful, but it is not confused. Then God sees that it is good. This is not only green beauty.
